Charlie Williams

Charlie Williams has 28 years experience in the aviation sector in the banking, consultancy, and airport industries. Charlie joined LeighFisher's London office in 2008. During his time with LeighFisher, he has mainly focused on airport strategy, business planning, traffic forecasting, and airport transaction advice for clients in Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, India, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Charlie advised Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) on an aviation business development strategy and traffic forecast for the successful acquisition of London Gatwick Airport from previous owners, BAA Airports Limited. He undertook a detailed assessment of the market dynamics of the Southeast England airport system (5 airports), including an assessment of capacity constraints and airline competition policies in the world’s largest aviation market. Charlie also developed a detailed bottom-up 30-year traffic forecast. As part of this role, he prepared multiple traffic development scenarios and presented to numerous lending and investing parties on behalf of GIP.

Other major assignments include an independent review of the Aeroporti di Roma business plan on behalf of lenders; reviews of aviation forecasts for Bristol, Brussels and Copenhagen airports on behalf of shareholders, MAp Airports and MEIF; and a traffic forecast for the Rio de Janeiro airport system, including an analysis of the impact of the new high-speed rail link to Sao Paulo. In addition, he has prepared aviation forecasts for two greenfield projects in India, a brownfield in Brazil (Cabo Frio), and a greenfield project in Mexico (Tulum Airport, which will serve as a reliever airport to Cancun International Airport). Charlie also has advised on possible privatization options for a client in Europe and on the business plan for a greenfield airport project in Europe. In addition, Charlie has advised on the aviation aspects of a rail patronage study for the planned airport to train station people-mover at Bologna Airport.
