Peter Mackenzie-Williams, Director

Peter Mackenzie-Williams is a highly experienced aviation economist with 33 years of specialist work in the sector. He joined LeighFisher in December 2006 having worked at the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) since 1998. His career began in 1978 at the UK Civil Aviation Authority where he was ultimately responsible for monitoring the financial health of a number of major British airlines.
Peter has become recognized as a worldwide authority in benchmarking operating and financial performance at airports and airlines, and also in benchmarking airports’ aeronautical charges. This work has grown from his production since 1990 of a suite of annual aviation benchmarking publications, of which Review of Airport Charges has been published for 21 years and Airport Performance Indicators for 14 years. These publications are widely recognized as authoritative industry reference sources, and are used by airports, regulators, analysts and airlines.
Peter also has extensive experience in the production and assessment of air traffic forecasts. He carries out an annual assessment of the air traffic forecasts underlying the business plan of Aeroporti di Roma, and he produced 15-year passenger traffic forecasts for the main international airports operated by Airports Company South Africa. In the UK he gave evidence on air traffic demand issues at the Public Inquiries into the development of Heathrow Terminal 5, Doncaster Sheffield Airport, and Manchester Runway 2.
