Elevating a Recognized Concession Program to New Heights

LeighFisher prepared a concessions plan for San Francisco International Airport’s Terminal 2—the former international terminal that recently went through a $300 million dollar redevelopment. The San Francisco Airport Commission wanted to ensure that concessions would feature prominently in the redeveloped terminal and take the Airport’s award-winning concessions program to a new level. LeighFisher was charged with developing an innovative concessions plan that would incorporate into the terminal design a recognition of the importance of concessions to the passenger experience. Through an interactive process, LeighFisher met regularly with the Airport Commission to come up with a unique, integrated design that is one of the outstanding features of the new terminal. In 2011, Airport Revenue News (ARN)—the foremost publication on the airport revenue industry— selected San Francisco International Airport in a three-way tie for having the Best Overall Concession Program for a large airport and San Francisco tied for having the Best Concessions Design for a large airport.
