LeighFisher helps airport management reach creative solutions to complex air quality issues. We are expert users of the full array of advanced air pollution modeling tools, enabling us to quickly quantify the emissions from specific airport sources, develop emissions inventories, and project pollutant concentrations. LeighFisher staff use complex scientific measurements and analysis of airport-related air pollution to understand how airport emissions affect a local community. The results of our work help airport operators implement programs to reduce airport-related air pollution, thereby reducing the impact of airport operations on the surrounding community.

LeighFisher also assists airport operators in applying for and securing Federal Aviation Administration funding for emission reduction projects through the Voluntary Airport Low Emissions (VALE) Program. We have prepared more than half of all successful VALE applications in the United States and our work has helped secure funding for projects at 14 airports ranging from non-hub to large-hub airports. By demonstrating the cost-effectiveness of emissions reduction projects through a combination of emissions dispersion modeling and financial analysis, we have helped secure funding for projects ranging from gate electrification to central plant rebuilds to renewable energy generation (solar photovoltaic and geothermal systems).
